Priyanka and Sagrika were good friends despite being related to each other as sisters-in-law. Sagrika's husband Rajan was Priyanka's brother. Although in Indian traditions this relationship is always bitter and of one up man ship. But still, they had a certain chemistry between them.

Their relationship continued to be good till the time their self-centredness got the better of them. Priyanka was the first one to change her attitude. She all of a sudden realised that she was losing a lot in life by continuing with this selfless relationship. Priyanka became very competitive after her marriage to Gaurav.

Gaurav came from a business household and was very focused on his various business interests. He infused Priyanka with all the competitive flavour he possessed. Priyanka became a real estate property dealer and Gaurav started a company making her a director.

Priyanka was now scouting for a property that was lying vacant and could be utilised for commercial purposes. After doing two to three average deals, she now centred her attention on her parental home. It was a big house and there was ample space even after the residents had been fitted in their places. There was a lot of potential for commercial dealings Priyanka had realised. But her brother Rajan along with his wife Sagarika had a different mindset. Rajan had a very well-paying job and had no wish to pursue after-hot money. His wife Sagarika was an artist and was not concerned about money as her paintings commanded good market value. Also, both of them did not want their private property being trampled and occupied by strangers.

Priyanka would not have to do anything which her brother and his wife did. She tried her best to convince them both but all fell on deaf ears. Many years of good friendship with Sagarika was not helping her clinch the deal.

So now Priyanka decided to act with certainty and clinch her deal before the upcoming Diwali festival. But how she should go about her deal? She tried to convince her parents. Although she was her parents' apple of their eyes it was difficult to get their support. Priyanka felt this was not to be so she started to move away from this deal but as she was loosening her grip, her husband Gaurav stood behind her to motivate her. However unwillingly, Priyanka again began to dream of taking over the property.

Not finding any lawful method to acquire her dream property, she now began harboring shady ideas. But she couldn't discuss this with Gaurav because he wouldn't support her. He wanted things to be done lawfully.

Priyanka then started meeting various land brokers and their strong men. These men came from various backgrounds. Some even had past criminal records. Few had served jail terms. They regularly broke the law to fulfill their life's needs.

Priyanka knew what she was doing was unethical but her level of desire had reached astronomical levels so she could not let her good sense influence her.

Her diabolical thoughts continued to guide her decision-making for the next few days. Two of her accomplices gave her the idea to eliminate her relatives in the house which she was interested in taking over. Others advised outright murder. Some gave the idea of kidnapping and then called for ransom money. Priyanka was puzzled about what decision she should take. The harm she would be doing was to her own dear ones.

Diwali was approaching and there was no solution in sight for Priyanka. The idea of letting go of the property was again gaining momentum. Her good sense was averse to the idea of doing harm to her very dear ones.

Already her relationship with her parents, brother and Sagarika, had become strained for the past few months from the time she had been possessed with her weird real estate ideas.

Diwali was now just two days ahead. Everyone was in a celebration mood. As per mythology Lord Rama had returned home with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman from exile of fourteen years and citizens of Ayodhya lit up lamps and dais to celebrate. Hence, the festival of lights, Dipawali or Diwali came into being. Devotees were reliving this victorious homecoming. In this festival of giving and loving, Priyanka could not conjure up ideas of forcible takeover of property.

On the day of Diwali, Rajan, Priyanka's brother came to meet his sister with a proposal. Rajan was going to Europe for a couple of years on an official project and would be taking his full family with him including his parents. So after talking to his parents, he decided to let Priyanka take over the property on lease, much wooed by her for her business dealings. Priyanka was overjoyed with this and thanked her God for answering her prayers. She had been patient and so she had got the reward and no loved one was physically harmed.

The good tidings of Diwali.
