Crossing The Road

I was on this side of the road, waiting desperately to cross over to the other side. However, the rush hour traffic just wouldn't pause, even for a short while. It seemed I had spent more time standing by the road just waiting to cross than it had taken me to travel all the way from Koramangla to Hulimavu. I was getting late for my interview at the Christ University. In desperation I stepped out on the road, hoping the traffic would stop. But it didn't. The vehicles honked rudely, almost running me down. An auto driver gestured if I was mad and a motorist let fly a few choicest abuses. I had no option but to retract my steps and again stood waiting by the road like a fool. Just then, I happened to notice a monkey leisurely crossing the road, undeterred by the rush hour traffic, along a cable which ran overhead from one side of the road to the other.

Alas! I was only a human being...
