Commitment

This is an exemplary often neglected story of Lakshman and his beloved wife Urmila. Urmila is an amazing woman character in Ramayan, who waits for her husband's return for 14yrs when he goes to exile with his brother Ram. No doubt she loves him immensely.

When Lakshman prays to god to grant him a wish to be awake consistently for 14 years day and night, God grants him his wish but tells him to replace another human being to be in slumber for 14yrs. Urmila takes this responsibility and spends 14yrs of her youthful life in unending sleep. without any doubt or hesitation, she follows her husband's wishes. Such great is her love for Lakshman.
