"Study hard for your 10+2,your life will just be roses, unicorns and rainbows!". This is something that most students in high schools in India are accustomed to hearing. We,as young adults, have vivid pictures of what college life might be owing to what we see on screen, we seem to believe that college life is just parties and a laid back lifestyle with the occasional assignment or two but the notion of "the ideal college life" dissipates quickly once the reality is reached. As we segue from out cocooned lives in school to the world, college proves to be the perfect place to help us with the transition. The happy bubble of security is no longer there, once we are out of school. The world can seem to be a dark, mysterious and often scary place and the very thought of having to deal with it alone can send shivers down our spine. College prepares us for the unknown winding path that lays ahead. It broadens our horizon. This is where we actually learn to be an adult. Make well informed decisions and become more responsible. This is where we mould our careers, creating the foundation of what we want our lives to be. Here our social skills are also put to test not only with the professors but with our peers as well.

College life doesn't restrict itself for an individual to come up with one single incident. It's a collage of cherisable, memorable moments, treasure box of good experience and occasional vintage shower of bad experiences too. In my college I was the leader of social community group. We used to arrange doctors and do medical campaign by going out on distant places of Bengal, a rally on issues like women empowerment, an exhibition of old clothes to give out to poor children with a book of alphabets thus spreading the light of knowledge as well. It so happened one of our own batchmate was financially weak and his father was a farmer. Well it is very disheartening to see the kind of lack of privileges soldiers and farmers gets inspite of raising this issue on social media, twitter by our group, sadly not a single appeal was heard by ministers and miserable condition with these two class of unsung hero persists. Anyways his father did all his hard work and extra effort to make his son study in good college and his son through scholarship did shed this burden off of fee money a little bit, but hike in price tag of everything is quite obvious in present scenario. So my poor batchmate was finding it very difficult to cope with dual pressure simultaneously of study and then putting extra pressure on father to pay the fee quickly. He got so disturbed he stopped going to college. I came to know about this incident. This made me upset too that from what tough situation my friend is undergoing. Anyway I reached his hostel room and I had a very long conversation. I assured him that our group will help him for sure and instructed his roommate to keep a watch on him and keep a track of his activities. Secretly the next evening his roomie informed me that he is going to take major step soon as read by him in his diary. For a moment I gave a thought to what are the situations to which this major step can be related to. I came up with leaving this college, stealing money, laptops from hostel mates, getting into wrong trades of banned items or suicide. Well ,last possibility terrified me and I at once informed all my friends and we all went out on a search of my dear helpless friend. Luckily we found him sitting on street road lonely. I instructed my few group members to be always with him and rest all we stopped our campaign for society on bigger scale and for a moment focussed ourselves to help out our batchmate. We collected funds along with drama group of our college by doing dramas on road.we took the help of music and dance group and raised our funds more. We went out individually to people who we have helped or usually doctors or elite members of society to help us with appreciable amount of money. We opened night tuition centre and taught school children. Thus collected little bit of tution fee contributing more to our collected funds.

We approached our teachers to help us academically by allowing us to skip some of the classes and financially by their money. These relentless efforts of us finally gave us season to smile and we were a little short of two year advance fee. Now we all together went out to principal and made a request to spare some more time for full term payment. To our amusement principal of college gave concession and told us seeing your unity, helping approach I am moved and consider this concession as my contribution. So I ran towards my depressed friend in excitement to give this news. I disclosed this news before him. He at once started crying and became grounded. I lifted him, hugged him and told him that we all are like family here and college life teaches us how to manage things, and help others. His father treated me as his second son whom he can rely on..So these moments of praises, watery eyes, approaching rays of happiness amidst the black cloud of sorrows gave me inner peace and satisfaction..I was thankful to every person who helped me, my own team members, teachers....There I realised College life is a very fascinating topic for teenage students who aspires to be in good colleges presuming that all comforts lied under one roof but reality seems to be opposite. It is the college which gives us the exposure to harsh external environment where people from different regions of country meet and makes us aware of tricks and tips which were absent when we were in unhatched eggs. NO KNOWLEDGE WITHOUT COLLEGE proves true as people become more learned, qualified after getting into college. College life is not simply going classes, doing chit chat with friends, hangouts, clubbing, lots of fun..college life trains you how to manage things, work together, develop helping approach, how to hold nerves in adverse situation ..it's irrespective of college life as portrayed by SRK in "MOHABBATEIN" and yet again reel life varies a lot from real life. College life brings out human qualities and is very much like a phase of life where we undergo the processing from immature raw material to mature refined form of human being..This particular story of my college life lies close to my heart because of moments, emotions it holds.
