Beyond the classroom
Beyond the classroom
College is often described as a place where we study, attend lectures, complete assignments and earn a degree. But I believe college is much more than that. It is a place where we slowly discover who we are, what we believe in and what we want to become.
When I entered college, I thought education was mainly about books, examinations and marks. But with time, I realised that some of the most important lessons cannot be found in textbooks. They come from experiences, responsibilities, challenges and the people we meet along the way.
One thing I have understood is that learning does not happen only inside a classroom. Sometimes, a practical session teaches us more than a chapter. Sometimes, a small responsibility makes us more confident. And sometimes, an unfamiliar situation teaches us how to face life.
As a science student, my academic journey has introduced me to the importance of observation, patience and curiosity. My practical experiences and on-the-job training have helped me understand that theoretical knowledge becomes more meaningful when we connect it with the real world.
But there is another side of being a student. We all have dreams, expectations and questions about our future. Sometimes we feel confident, and sometimes we are unsure about our next step. Yet, we continue learning and moving forward.
I strongly believe that every student has a different journey, and every journey deserves respect. We should never measure our potential only through marks, ranks or achievements. Education should not just prepare us to earn a living; it should prepare us to live with understanding, confidence and responsibility.
There is a beautiful thought in Hindi: "Zindagi mein sirf safal hona zaroori nahi, balki har din kuch naya seekhte hue ek behtar insaan banna bhi zaroori hai."
I want to become someone who never stops learning, questioning and improving. I may not have all the answers about my future today, but I know that every experience is helping me become a little stronger and wiser.
In the end, college will give us a degree, but the experiences, values, friendships and lessons we collect along the way will become a part of who we are.
Because education is not just about becoming qualified; it is about becoming capable, thoughtful and human.
