Answer Or Solution?!

Answer Or Solution?!

From my childhood till now, I have a question that, is Answer important or the solution/the procedure for solving it is important. Have you ever faced this doubt?

During my childhood when the answer for a question is correct then only it would be marked as right else it would be considered as wrong. Later at my teens when the procedure is correct then it is considered as right else obviously a wrong one. Some of them check for both procedure and answer as well, only when both of them are as per their will it would be considered as a right due to which my doubt became more strong and for multiple-choice questions what would be considered...only answer right.

For any problem - I refer to something related to numbers like math, accounts but not some related to life - there would be many solutions that derive to the same answer.

But the major concern is if we are getting a wrong answer then the solution used for deriving it is considered wrong or if the solution we are trying to solve is a wrong method due to which we got the wrong answer?? Which one is correct. I also have another concern that if we don't try solving a problem irrespective of whether it is correct or not how can one get the answer and how will the answer decide the process is correct or not.

I think I have confused you totally, let me tell in simpler terms. For any problem, there would be an answer and to reach that answer there would be many ways to solve it. We know the problem and answer as well but the procedure to achieve the same is not known is one criterion and for other, the problem itself is known but solving procedure and answer is not yet known, at this point how can one judge the procedure and/or the answer is right/wrong. For this, we first need to start solving it irrespective of the success or failure in reaching the desired answer. For the first criteria, the methodologies which derive the same answer which is correct/expected is only considered as right. Here comes another query that procedure is valid but due to some calculations if the answer is wrong how can one think the procedure itself is wrong. For the latter criteria, for any problem, there can be lot many procedures to solve it and most of them derive you to the same answer which might be correct but not absolute. If proper calculations aren't used then the wrong procedure can also lead to the same answer which we would think correct. It would be considered as correct for some time but later it would definitely be the wrong choice. Sometimes a single answer with no similarities with other answers can also be correct and the process used for it is also appropriate which could not be considered as correct at the time but eventually, right would be recognized and it would make its own place.

You might be wondering why am I telling or deriving conclusions but not illustrating my doubts appropriately right.

Just relate what I have written here with your life and the problems you might or been facing in your life. I hope you would feel better and even I would feel happy if this could help you in solving or at least giving a try for solving yours.
