One day when Arjun was going home from school, he saw some fresh strawberries in the Rishikesh bazaar, which had directly, came from Mahabaleshwar. The shopkeeper was selling 100 strawberries for 50 rupees. He saw that he had 50-rupee note left from his lunch money. Therefore, he took 100 strawberries in a cloth bag, which his grandmother had given him for school.

While coming from the Rishikesh bazaar, he was swallowing on the strawberries. He was living at his grandmother’s house because his parents lived in a village and they wanted their son to study hard and become a great person so they sent him to his grandmother when he was of the age of 6, so that he could go to school. His grandmother stayed at the borders of Rishikesh.

When he got home there were still 16 strawberries left, his grandmother said, “We both will take 2 strawberries each after that I’ll go to the kitchen and put the left strawberries in the fridge.” After that, they both took 2 strawberries each and then his grandmother put the other strawberries in the fridge.

Arjun saved the seed of the second strawberry’s seed in his mouth and played with it. His grandmother saw him doing this and said, “instead of playing with this seed why don’t you plant it in the shaded corner of the garden.” Therefore, Arjun took out the seed and planted the seed at the exact location, which his grandmother had said to him.

After planting the tree, he would always water the tree while going to school in the morning and while returning from school in the evening. He took great care of the tree. When winter came, he saw that seed had turned in herb-sized plant. He ran to his grandma and said, “Grandma the seed has turned in an herb sized plant.” His grandma said, “that’s fabulous the 2nd winter after this year. This herb sized plant will grow into a tree.”

After winter ended, summer came when it was hot in Rishikesh. Therefore, Arjun went to his parents’ house and help them work in the fields. Soon summer ended and Arjun went to his grandma’s house to go back to his school. Then Arjun’s 10th birthday when he was turning 10. He celebrated his birthday in school with his friends.

After monsoon, winter, summer and another monsoon, the seed became a tree. It was big, bigger than 12-year-old Arjun and his grandmother. Then blossom came, the tree started blooming flowers but as it was blossom, birds began to eat the flowers. Even though the tree had lost his flowers, it did not stop it from blooming flowers.

Soon summer came and Arjun started wondering that why we love this tree more than all the beautiful potted trees we have in our garden, which we have taken greenhouses. Therefore, he asked his grandmother, “Grandma, why do we like this strawberry tree more than all the beautiful potted flowers from a different greenhouse? What is so special about this tree?”

His grandma explained, “Look Arjun, we love this tree because it is special to us even though it doesn’t have outside beauty but still it is prosperous to us. There are two reasons, which are that we love this tree because we ourselves planted this tree. Plus, this is our own step to stop global warming also it is our step that we need to eat to live.”

After learning what his grandma said, Arjun started planted trees all over Rishikesh and stopping woodcutters from cutting trees. He said, “We all need to study so we need paper but why don’t we recycle it. We all need clean air to breath and food to eat so our first move is to plant trees.”

Moral: we should plant trees instead of cutting them.
