The Women Around Me

The women around me,

Are truly praiseworthy.

They possess special talents,

And I have none of these.

They are busy and are talking,

They are cooking and are chatting,

They are working and discussing,

Good heavens! how much they talk.

A full meal is prepared,

Yet the discussion doesn't end.

A husband's desires and dislikes,

A mother-in law's wickedness,

A bossy father-in-law,

The neighbor's daughters' affair,

The adulterous son-in-law,

And the topic doesn't end.

The passion and the fervor,

With which they discuss,

Is truly praiseworthy.

However, I do not understand,

Their lack of intellectual pursuit,

And they do not understand me.

We are mortal enemies,

So to say,

Each assessing the other,

With disgust.

I'm not their friend,

But their favorite foe,

And life goes on,

Each day moving on to the next,

Their topics increase tenfold.
