The Web
The Web
Along
comes
the spider,
weaving relentlessly
yarns of silk
that are fragile,
yet so strong enough
to hold the pattern
together, providing an asylum to
the master builder who thrives
on the guileless prey who, lured
by the design, unable to extricate
itself from the flimsy filaments that loom
as separate threads but are indeed interconnected,
to hold down the survivors till they succumb.
The addictive stories of self and of others
that are woven with lies, fears, and
doubts, intertwine to slowly gain ruthless power
over the fickle yet faithful friend,
who toils subconsciously and untiringly with
the sole purpose of making
the beliefs entrapped in weaves
to become a reality,
blurring facts and reason
as the insusceptible
weaver turns into
the prey,
the spider
the
web.
