The Lovers Of Auroville
The Lovers Of Auroville
I have loved you
Since the day I peeked
Out of the sultry sullen earth,
And I caught your shadow
Dancing to a nightly breeze
From the sea not far.
I have watched you sway
Singing our song
Tall against the moonlight,
And I have danced a little too.
You have nurtured me,
Touched me with grace
In days good and bad,
And I have found love
On land men named Auroville.
Oh, how I have loved you
For centuries,
Under a star-strewn abyss.
I have laughed with you
At the sun and the moon
And their unending courtship dance.
I have stood in rain and in drought,
Growing together,
Carefree and careless.
I have watched men come and go,
As they struggle with love
In a failing grace.
I have stories to tell
Of kindred spirits that travel
Beneath the dusty mess.
I have heard jolly tales
Of a wanderer and his lust
From our feathered friends.
And I wonder
Of the centuries to come,
In a wishful trance.
What if we travel
To a foreign land
Like old lovers in a Cuban romance?
