The Long Road To Paradise
The Long Road To Paradise
As in that bed, I lie down,
With a sweet melody that sings over me,
Neither do I smile, nor do I frown,
I am free, I am free.
What happened was imminent,
What will happen is unknown,
In darkness here I am surrounded,
No television, no phone.
I had always been a fighter,
But does it matter now?
I have nothing to do except,
Gaze at the grazing cow.
I just wait for the day,
When a flower will I become,
Or be the leaf of a tree and sway,
Or a fruit destined to ripen.
Am I trapped here for eternity?
Or will I someday get the endless pleasure?
Are my sins paying off,
And obstructing me from that treasure?
As the elegy sounds,
In the lonely churchyard,
I know my heart will never pound,
Beneath the stone in my graveyard,
Now I know my forefathers and fathers were wise,
It is indeed a long way to paradise.
