Road to Happiness
Road to Happiness
You walk amidst the crowd unnoticed,
Embracing the aloof, you tread along.
At times stopping to catch a broken smile,
A mirage, an incomplete song.
From along the childhood days –
Your passions rose from a far out source,
Only to be crushed and observe the decree.
Happiness gagged in due course.
As the night grows old, you ponder.
How rightful is the joy behind the smile?
Is it hollow or forged from the bosom?
Befuddled, you keep moving awhile.
Trudging ahead in search of truth,
You scurry through to reach the end.
In yearning for the emerald isle,
Fueled by greed on every bend.
The road to happiness is long and slow,
In your heart, you already know.
The journey you ride grows tired and thirsty,
And your skin is burnt, you take it slow.
Now in the dusk of your time,
As your hair catches that silver tinge.
You realize happiness is not a gift received,
But every moment of your life – you lived.
