Rain
Rain
As the dawn creaks upon the horizon,
And brings with it the first drops of rain,
A little girl leaps out
And jumps in glee,
Her footsteps echoing through the little puddles,
As she runs through the streets carefree.
The drops of water
Caress her face,
Never does she falter,
Yes, there is no grace.
But the recklessness is no more,
Neither is the fulfilling beauty,
The hands of time tick away,
With the memory of waves and the sea.
In her race to be a woman,
She lost the girl who rebelled against the decree,
And now she's bound and locked away,
To become just a cherished memory.
