Parallel Lines
Parallel Lines
Idols worshipped and ideologies buried,
Statues safeguarded and women abused,
Tainted money emptied into the coffers of the temples,
The hypocrisy of humanity and its contorted principles.
No kind words to the living, or a hand to wipe away the silent tear,
But after they are gone forever,
Conscientious ceremonial offerings every year,
Seeking redemption out of guilt, or is it the fear?
Protests and placards to save nature,
Slogans written on sheets of paper,
Trees cut down, rivers poisoned, mountains littered,
The gifts of Mother Nature unscrupulously plundered.
Guarding the keys, with utmost care,
To the box of treasure, that has long been lost unawares,
You walk around like you have eternity.
When will you wake up to the grim reality?
