My Daughter's Poem

My father woke me up TODAY.

But he did not give me a hug like my mother, so I wouldn't feel lonely all day long.

My father dressed me up TODAY.

But he did not pack my lunch, like my mother, so that I could eat it later if I got hungry.

My father dropped me to the bus stop TODAY.

But he did not get me ready quickly enough, like my mother, and so, I missed my bus.

My father picked me from the bus stop TODAY.

But the food was served cold......because my mother wasn't home.

My father told me bedtime stories TODAY.

But today, stories were less adventurous.

My father woke up early TODAY.

But today, my mother was not feeling okay, so he left for office without having breakfast.

My father dressed me up TODAY.

But unlike other days, my hair was combed well. It did not fall into my eyes, and I could concentrate on my books more rather than brushing my locks aside every minute.

My father dropped me to the bus stop TODAY.

And he told the driver to drive carefully and bring me back safe.

My father picked me from the bus stop TODAY.

But unlike other days, I had my favorite ice-cream on the way and talked about my day at the school.

My father told me bedtime stories TODAY.

But unlike other days, I felt a hand beside me, which I could hold tightly if I had a nightmare.
