Children Stories Others

Long Years Ago

Long Years Ago

Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny

Yes, it was accompanied by revolt and mutiny

It was a successful attempt to get rid of tyranny

And of ages of injustice and enmity

They begin with ruling some scattered reigns

But left behind a country in entirety

It can be attributed by all means

To the revolters who weren't in scarcity

Yes, there were differences

Religion, caste, creed, colour resulted in variances

But when independence became the main concern

None did succumb to any such disturbances

We rose against them-both violently and peacefully

We made them change their indifference

We brought about changes in their attitude largely

And made them leave our homeland, they left reluctantly

They believed we won't sustain

They opined our differences will break us

Little did they know that these very differences

Would be the reason for our progress

We defeated, we marched, we drove towards success

We united and celebrated the essence of this unity

Earlier who had ridiculed our very identity

Now they recognise us as Unity in Diversity!
