Happily Married
Happily Married
With piercing eyes, and a familiar frown
You probe, “When do you plan to settle down?”
Do you feel I am a letdown?
Or did you find my ‘invisible crown’?
Stable and orderly
Life with a house, dog and family
Accepting your partner’s faults unconditionally
Prepared to put others ahead of you frequently
Not to mention the chaos, occasionally
I endeavour to get the definition of "settled" right, hopefully.
My hum-drum life has a routine too
I have kin, and I love them true.
My friends and family, with people I grew
The deep bonds renewed, or established anew
My circle of strength and my weakness too.
I listen and compromise as much as you do
I am neither a cynic, nor a heartbreak, and I have my flaws
I love, I care, I hurt, I nurture, and so do you.
My heart filled with gratitude, for I want no more
I am at home, with my adventure.
By chance or by choice, our lives entwine
Every life has a story, welcome to my design
As we strive to be the best of our version
I respect your decisions; you are free to judge mine
I am happily married to my life
As much as you are, to yours.
