Goddess

Goddess

She came into my life in spring,

I could hear the conch shells being blown,

Right at that time,

She wailed her way into my life,

And made her presence known.

People were praying,

Invoking the Goddess,

Here I lay awake all night,

Cradling my fiery, little Goddess.

What is it that people say,

About love at first sight,

For I surely fell for her,

That very same night.

The nurse informed me,

That's your daughter,

My tired eyes looked at her,

And all else didn't matter.

The usual followed,

Sleepless nights and tiring days,

From a little pupa,

My Goddess has become,

A butterfly today.

When I look back,

At all those tiring years rearing my tyrant,

I somehow feel,

They were all for the best,

Energy well spent.

I see my Goddess today,

Humane and kind,

With a heart that beats for others,

A soul just fine.
