Friendship
Friendship
Friends are God-send angels
To make life worth living.
Unassuming honest pals,
When needed, live up to Krishna –Sudama fables.
As those two guava trees in my backyard,
Standing side by side with boughs intertwined.
Under the weather, even leaves wither away
But they stand tall together, come sunny or stormy day.
They nod and swing their heads together,
When that agreeable breeze blows.
Or stand still in rapt attention,
When in summer, somewhere a cuckoo coos.
As if laughing at the silly warblers,
For taking care of her young ones,
Yet warblers value friendship more,
Never mind, they have to stay indoors.
Perching on the guava boughs,
Marveling at their unconditional vows.
Like true friends stick together more,
Well aware of the hovering eagles or cruel lurking crows.
