Eventually
Eventually

I dipped my toes into the fire
because I thought,
eventually, you would want to know how the flames are like, or you’re curious enough to ask about the state of my skin.
I carried the bricks of your colossal wall on the back of my hand,
because I thought,
eventually you would hold mine too, eventually you would tell me to put them down, eventually, you would wonder how my footsteps never wavered when we walked side by side.
I poured myself a cup of pain,
because I thought,
eventually, you would stop my hands from reaching the cups,
eventually, you would shut my lips closed and tell me “it’s enough.”
I locked my mind and let my desire take charge,
because I thought,
eventually, you would realize that something is missing,
eventually you would search to find it, eventually, you would choose to save my mind over yours.
