Deepawali homecoming
Deepawali homecoming
The Twinkle of Diwali fairy lights,
On the palm tree next to the pond look extra bright.
My high-rise society in a metro city
Is beautifully decorated for Diwali festivity.
Sunrays falling on the temple compound
and shrieking horns of buses around,
Remind me that I will soon go home,
Childhood memories lighten up Ganesha's form.
I own a loaned flat in this high-rise,
But my home is in a small city under clear blue skies.
Lights crackers and all decorations here,
Remind me my family waiting for me there,
Memories of my mother making Lakshmi foot,
With Alta on my feet, my brain has a deep root.
I have settled here to work in the metro,
But I still love Deepawali all the way retro.
It's a joyous reminder of lord Ram's homecoming,
Meetings with families are always heartwarming,
I will go home, relive old memories and create new ones,
Amongst pooja, diyas, sweets, and family, I will again find love in tons.
