Each step bringing him closer to me - his eternal fate.
There he was - with smiles and scars
My lifetime wouldn't suffice to hear him tell about them
With spark in his eyes and child-like enthusiasm.
Every touch, every word gets etched in memory,
To be revisited when in solitary.
Yet I don't resent his decision
That put the distance between us.
That moment I could very well sympathise
With the words of Brutus. For, I knew
He didn't love me any less
He just loved his country more.
