April Afternoons
April Afternoons
The hot, humid April afternoons have begun,
And everyone seeks to stay out of the sun.
The outdoors, once a delight just weeks ago,
Now stretch like a desert in a sweltering glow.
The heat presses in, sticky and still,
How I long for a shower that flows at will.
The fan whirs on with a tireless drone,
Yet respite remains a dream unknown.
Out come the minis, the shorts, the hats,
Sun-kissed shades and summer chats.
Sipping cool lemon and mint with ease,
Cucumbers, greens—small moments that please.
Though the heat may cling with a stubborn gleam,
Within my abode, life flows like a dream.
