A Letter To My Unending Sadness

To precious melancholy,

You made me believe I am lovable,

The way you never leave my arms.

You hug me and make me cry a little, 

I can see your shadows through half-open doors, even when you’re not in the room.

You’re my dearest friend

Because you stayed when every pair of ears departed.

You remind me of the void even on my fullest days.

You remind me of the clouds even when my sun is strong. 

You humble me down when I’m consumed by myself.

You let me drown in you when it gets irritatingly warm,

You wrap around me like a blanket, on cold winter nights,

You’re like non-seasonal rain,

You’re like a breath of fresh air when I’m in a noisy crowded room.

I’m sure we’re destined to be together, and I hope you love me back.
