The Wise Judge
The Wise Judge
Once there was a king named Baukas. He had heard many stories about a judge. He wanted to see whether those stories were true. So he disguised himself as a simple commoner and went in search of the judge. On his way a man asked him whether he could take him to the town square. The king agreed. When they reached there the young man refused to get off the king’s horse. So the king suggested, that we should go to the wise judge. The wise judge heard their problem and told them to come back the next day. They came back the next day and the wise judge asked both of them to identify their horse out of several other horses. They both got it correct. Then, the young man went to pet the horse and the horse stepped back in fright. That’s how the judge came to know that the horse belonged to the king. Then the king revealed his identity. The judge was taken aback. The king asked the judge what reward would you like, but the judge refused and said that I am just pleased that my king is happy.
