His subjects were happy about his reign. But the king was never happy or satisfied with his life. One day he heard about a sage that lived in the mountains by his courtiers and about his wisdom and knowledge. So he dressed up like a commoner and went to the sage and told him about his problem. The sage gave him a task in which he gave him a spoon filled with oil and told him to roam the whole mountain and come back but be sure to not spill the oil from the spoon.
The king went carefully and roamed the mountain making sure he did not spill the oil but when the sage asked him what he saw he had no reply the sage explained to him that he was so busy in ensuring the level of oil that he did not notice his surroundings and did not enjoy things which he could have enjoyed. Then he asked the king to do the same task again. This time when the king came back he told the sage about how he enjoyed the scenery of his kingdom from the mountains when the king finished the sage pointed out to him that he had spilled the oil he had given him. The sage told him that the solution of his problem was that he had to enjoy life at any opportunity given but also be careful with his work and not get diverted totally
