THE SELFISH FREINDS
THE SELFISH FREINDS
Once upon a time, a little red hen found a grain of wheat.
"Who will help me plant this wheat?" she asked.
"Not I," said the duck.
"Not I," said the cat.
"Not I," said the pig.
So the little red hen planted the wheat all by herself.
When the wheat grew into tall, golden stalks, she asked, "Who will help me cut the wheat?"
"Not I," said the duck.
"Not I," said the cat.
"Not I," said the pig.
So the little red hen cut the wheat all by herself.
She asked, "Who will help me take the wheat to the mill to grind it into flour?"
"Not I," said the duck.
"Not I," said the cat.
"Not I," said the pig.
So the little red hen took the wheat to the mill and ground it into flour.
Finally, she asked, "Who will help me bake the bread?"
"I will," said the duck, the cat, and the pig.
But the little red hen said, "No, I will bake the bread myself."
When the bread was ready, the duck, the cat, and the pig wanted to eat it.
But the little red hen said, "No, I worked hard to make this bread, and I will eat it all by myself!"
