1. Her Sacrifice, My Blindness

Growing up, I always saw my mother as a silent pillar of strength — never asking, never resting. She gave up every little joy just to see smiles on our faces. While we celebrated birthdays, festivals, and our smallest wins, she celebrated our happiness.

She had no personal luxuries. No time for her favorite foods, no weekend fun, no break from work — just pure selfless devotion to our family.
I still remember how, during my exams, she would sit with me even if she didn’t understand the subject. She would learn it first, then explain it to me in the simplest way possible.

At the time, I never said thank you. I never told her how proud I was of her.
I just thought… I’d do it tomorrow.

2. The Night That Broke Everything

Then came that one night.
She had already been a bit unwell, and I was worried. But I didn’t know that night would change everything.

She got up early and looked… different. Tired. But she didn’t say anything.
I gave her medicine and went to the other room to tell my father that we might need to take her to the hospital again.

Suddenly we heard something fall. We rushed to her.
She was trembling. I held her tightly, calling her name.
My father was rubbing her feet. My sister was crying and rubbing her hands.

And then… she stopped moving.

I couldn’t feel her breath. But I still had hope.
A neighbor said her breath was slow — and I believed that. I called the ambulance.
It took 20 minutes. The doctor checked and simply said…
“She’s gone.”

Gone?

No. That’s not possible. I ran to get another doctor. But the railway crossing blocked my way.
I ran. And cried. And prayed. But it was too late.

When I returned, nothing had changed. She still wasn’t moving.
That’s when I knew — this wasn’t a bad dream.
This was real.

3. The Things I Never Said

It’s been six years now. But the tears haven’t stopped.

Not a single night passes without guilt flooding my chest.
I didn’t do enough. I didn’t say enough.
I never made her feel as special as she truly was.

I never said “Thank you.”
I never said “Sorry.”
I never said “You mean the world to me.”

All the things I thought I’d say later — I never got the chance to.
I kept pushing them to tomorrow.

4. The Lie of Tomorrow

We’re all sold a beautiful lie when we’re kids — that there’s always tomorrow.

Tomorrow, I’ll say sorry.
Tomorrow, I’ll make her smile.
Tomorrow, I’ll buy her something nice.
Tomorrow, I’ll hug her tighter.
Tomorrow, I’ll make her proud.

But tomorrow never came.

That’s the biggest lie we all live with — that we’ll always have time.
We don’t.

Life is uncertain. Fragile. Unpredictable.

If you love someone, tell them.
If you owe someone an apology, give it.
If you want to do something good for someone, don’t wait for the “right time.”
The right time is now.

Because the people we love the most… won’t always be around.
