"THE Legendary Parents with 12 children"
"THE Legendary Parents with 12 children"
Introducing to you my book- "The Legendary Parents with 12 children" -
Life does not tell us the right moment to start with a new journey but gives us a moment which we can make right. Dreaming about being successful in life is something which we all do but dreams don't come true unless we work on them. From a very young age, I had the ambition of becoming an auothor but like every typical person, I was waiting for the right moment to come which never comes in one's life. When I realised this, I started on this new voyage in my life. The month of November in the iconic year 2022 which I eagerly waited for, as my grandparents were celebrating their golden years of togetherness. Engaged in the preparations for this grand event I had a thought about writing a book on my legends, my role models - my maternal grandparents. So, presenting to you a book telling about the legendary parents with 12 children!. This might sound strange but it is something we can emotionally relate to. They actually have two sons and a daughter but consider all their grandchildren, son-in-law and daughters-in-law as their own children. They proudly tell me "We are the parents of 12 children!" Visiting my grandparents whom I refer to as 'nana' and 'nani' is like going on a luxurious vacation! With so much of pampering, love and care, they fill up my life with such joy! For every child, their grandparents are always legends and role models for them and the same applies to me. But through this book, I wanted to depict the love, affection and care by every grandparent in this world. Now a days, we, youngsters have started taking our grandparents for granted. They refer their thinking as old whereas it is practical as they have experienced the ups and downs of life much more than we have. They are god's representative on Earth to guide us about the wrong and the right. My grandparents are a legend, a mentor, a teacher, a life advicer, a friend and all that I require in life. Their blessings and love is what has given me the strength for this new journey! "THE LEGENDARY PARENTS WITH 12 CHILDREN", is my first step in this new voyage of my life ; my first book. This book has been written by me in behalf of my grandmother - Manju Bajaj. She means the world to all her twelve children and is the heart of our lively family. In the following context, 'I' refers to her.
Dedicated to,My grandparents
Hereby attached is a chapter from my manuscript-
.**CHAPTER 1 - THE ARRIVAL**
It was time to welcome the divine shakti of women, Goddess Durga! Durga Puja is celebrated in every corner of the city, Kolkata and long time before this festival starts, all schools and offices and closed. Now that, schools had closed, there was someone special arriving at home! ; my granddaughter, Yashashvini. More than that I have pampered my daughter, Ranjana, I have pampered her daughter, Yashashvini. She is the fearless queen of our family and more like a commander!. She loves to come here and spend time with everyone and is the dearest to her grandfather, whom she refers as 'nana' and me as 'nani'. It was afternoon time and Yashashvini was about to arrive. My other four monkeys, vansh, vanyaa, kanishka and anushka were eagerly waiting for her to come, each popping out their heads from the veranda grills. Running from the veranda the naughtiest one, Vansh, screamed 'Yashu di is here!' He could never pronounce her name properly, thus he called her 'Yashu'. The rest of the three monkeys,Kanishka, anushka and vanyaa came and gathered around me. By the clanging noise of the lift's gate, I could sense she was here! Anushka ran to open the gate. She opened the gate and gave each other a tight hug! They called each other 'sisi' and used to get along with each other a lot! They considered nana and me as their best friends. Yashashvini plunged her bag on the sofa and gave me a tight hug. All the children leaped on her! The smallest but the most mischievous one, vansh, quietly put his hand inside her pocket. All the kids knew she would have bought chocolates for them. They were so glad to see the '5stars'! Each one just ran away with a glee on their faces and without the courtesy to thank her. They ran to one corner of the sofa to munch it on. Anushka and Yashashvini sat on either sides of me. An hour went by laughing and giggling, listening to their stories. She stopped anushka at one point and tirelessly said 'Nani, am very hungry' and there came her patent dialouge "I want some good food". I knew her good food referred to the dosa made by me. I told the servant Ashok whom we referred as "Ashok Bhaiya" to serve lunch to the children. Anushka, waiting for her sisi to come , was also extremely hungry. Both of them were thrilled to have the delicious meal. Now in search of some sweets, both of them were busy checking every cabinet of the kitchen. But, I pretended to sleep because I knew what was to happen next. The bell rang and Yashashvini went to open it. There she saw her grandfather "nana"! She considered him as the coolest person on planet and was the most dearest one to him. He had bought 'chocolate sandesh' for everyone which all of them loved! The kids who pretended to sleep also ran to get a sneak peek. Nana understood their mouths were watering. He said "Offer it to god and then to yourself as many as you want!". Satisfied and thrilled after having the sweets, they went to sleep without even changing their uniforms. Nana said he was going for a massage and the sisters had already slept. Now I was left alone at home with my rest three monkeys. I tried to put them off to sleep as well but they did not wish to. As we all know, kids only do what their mishevious mind says. They had this sudden urge to play 'catch the ball' and that too at home. Sounded stupid but I agreed to it on a condition that the house won't be in a mess. I felt mercy on them after seeing the innocent faces. An hour went by. I told the kids to go and wake up their sisters _quietly_. I knew they wouldn't have done it quietly but still mentioned it to keep them a little alert. Their way of waking up one was very unique! They switched on all the lights, switched off the fan, pulled of the blankets, sat on their backs and screamed under their ears those nursery rhymes about a horse ride! This scene has always seemed hilarious to me! It was obvious for one to wake up in so much noise. They woke up with furious faces. The kids knew how to overcome it. They laughed out loud and hugged them. All my five monkeys came out laughing. Her aunt 'Meghna' also woke up. All the kids considered to be the coolest aunt on this world who could apply even a box of makeup on one's face! She was glad to see Yashashvini at home! Quietly she asked her 'Cheese cream maggi?'. It was pretty obvious that her answer was 'yes'. The hot maggi was here! Everyone got over with it and my son and daughter-in-law, Sharad and Seema were back home from work. They were Yashashvini's uncle and aunt whom she loved! Sharad's bag were usually loaded with jellies for the kids. He took out the jellies and distributed it among the children. Yashashvini is extremely fond of both her uncles and aunts who pampered her in every way possible!
