The Last Seven Minutes
This is a fictional story, but some parts of it are inspired by other stories and real-life experiences.
How a person spends their final moments is determined by the life they have lived.
A small boy named Aasem lived in a little village. He was a very cheerful and mischievous child—the only son of his parents, who belonged to a farming family.
Everyone in the village loved Aasem. His teachers and classmates loved him too. Although he was a little mischievous at school, his innocent smile and playful nature made it impossible for anyone to dislike him.
But one day, the village was unusually quiet.
The village's beloved little boy had not come out of his house since morning. No one knew what had happened to him.
Even the birds sitting on the old banyan tree seemed restless, calling out as if they were searching for him.
At his school, his classmates and teachers waited for him.
Why hadn't Aasem come to school?
Outside the emergency room of the hospital, his parents were crying uncontrollably.
Yes.
The beloved child of the village was fighting for his life.
He was in his final moments.
Aasem was suffering from blood cancer in its last stage.
Four months earlier, on an ordinary day, Aasem had been returning home from school when he suddenly vomited blood. His family rushed him to a nearby hospital.
That was when they discovered the heartbreaking truth.
Aasem was nearing the end of his life.
His parents took him to several hospitals, hoping that someone could save him. But nothing worked.
Eventually, Aasem understood that he did not have much time left.
Yet, he never allowed his illness to change him.
He remained the same cheerful boy.
Instead of spending his remaining days being afraid, he chose to fill his parents' hearts with beautiful memories.
He laughed with them.
He played with them.
He made them happy.
He knew that one day they would have to live without him, and he wanted them to remember him with smiles rather than tears.
And now, that little boy was lying in the hospital, fighting through his final moments.
The news spread throughout the village.
One by one, people gathered outside the hospital.
His friends came.
His teachers came.
The village leader came.
Everyone who had loved Aasem stood there, helplessly waiting.
Inside the room, Aasem looked at them and smiled.
Even in his final moments, he seemed to be saying that he had done enough to make the people of this world happy.
Now, perhaps, it was time for him to go somewhere beyond this world—
to make the people there happy too.
And then...
There were only seven minutes left.
The Last Seven Minutes.
