One day in an orchard a fox saw a bunch of ripe grapes hanging from the branch of a tree. The grapes looked juicy, and the fox wanted them.

The fox jumped for the grapes. The first time he jumped he missed, so he stepped back and tried again. He took a running leap but fell short once more. Again and again, he tried, but he did not have any luck.


Now the fox sat down and looked at the grapes in disgust. "I am a fool," he said. "Here I am wearing myself out for a bunch of grapes that are not worth it." And he walked off saying, "I am sure they are not any good anyway.
