We are soulmates.

Although we have never vouchsafed something like this-

"I shall hold your hands throughout my life, never let you down-It is an ardent promise."

Staying together under one roof is no mean feat to me.

We are like two parallel lines, hardly intersecting each other's path. Yet, we run for miles, for decades like a quaint saga of romance, a serene depiction of life.

We are the best of buddies, of course, man and wife, but not in the traditional sense.

Each of us has a mind of our own and possesses the right to criticize the other, albeit in a constructive way.

He is a foodie, I can manage with anything.

He lives to eat, I eat to live.

Believe me-we are soulmates.

We have been married for thirty-four long years and a day has not passed when we have not quarreled nor had a difference of opinion. Yet, one thing is common-existence is never pointless for us.

I raise a toast to the memories of togetherness when he goes on tours. I skip sipping my cuppa during the evening after I am back from work, even take one bite or two during dinner when he is not around.

My mobile keeps on buzzing when I am late from work.

He nags a lot till I reach home.

Perhaps, we validate it time and again in our own subtle way by giving space to each other and by respecting each other's pace in life's race. We read and decipher silence, much before lips utter, do our bit to assuage hurt.

We are shy of the public glare, hence celebrate privately.

He orders vodka, I order lemon soda and both get drunk at the same time.

The quotient of love in living is the only thing that excites and intoxicates us.

We are like a pair of gloves, cannot be sold in pieces.
