Road Trips

Whenever we went on road trips, we siblings always fought to sit near window seats. And there were four of us, apart from Mum and Dad. They obviously occupied the front two seats.

To make it seem fair and square, there was a rule in place that the two who sat one way would give the other two their place on the return trip. Thus each one of us rolled down the window panes, to stick out our heads and watch the passing landscape. Hair flying in the breeze, it was just exhilarating, none of us ever gave up for anything!

One such trip, my twin got real sick, stuffing herself with egg sandwiches. Once she started to puke, dad pulled up at the kerb and requested I offer the window seat to her. Grudgingly I did, knowing she was ill, but felt pangs of jealously course through my childish mind "how unfair it was I had to give up my chance". I never spoke to her for the next two days.

Now in our sixties, we laugh over our childish escapades.
