Never Abandon Yourself
Never Abandon Yourself
To every woman who is standing at the crossroads between her career and a relationship: please, do not give up on yourself.
Never sacrifice your career, your financial independence, or your identity for any man, any relationship, or even a friendship. Because life can change without warning, and when circumstances turn against you, the career you built and the money you earn may be the very things that give you strength, dignity, freedom, and a way forward.
The hardest truth is that people may not always remember your sacrifices.
You can spend years doing things for someone you love, protecting their interests, supporting their dreams, standing beside them through difficult times—and one day, they may simply ask:
"Did I ask you to do it?"
"Did you ask me before doing it?"
And if you try to explain, "I did it for you," you may hear:
"You count everything you do."
But sometimes, you don't mention your sacrifices because you want credit. You mention them because you wish they had been recognised without having to explain them.
People rarely see the battles you fight silently for the sake of love, loyalty, friendship, family, or a relationship. They don't see the opportunities you let go of, the dreams you postponed, the compromises you made, or the pieces of yourself you quietly gave away.
And when things fall apart, those sacrifices can become invisible—as though they never happened.
So, women, please remember this:
Love someone. Support someone. Build a life with someone. But never abandon yourself in the process.
Keep your career.
Keep your financial independence.
Keep your ambitions.
Keep your identity.
Keep a life that belongs to you.
Because the greatest security is not knowing that someone will always stay.
It is knowing that even if someone leaves, you will still be able to stand.
Don't sacrifice yourself hoping that someone will one day understand what you gave up for them.
Choose yourself—not because you love others any less, but because you deserve to love yourself enough to never lose yourself.
