Nashik Kumbh Mela:


The next Kumbh Mela in Nashik is in 2027. Kumbh Mela is held in Nashik At Trimbakeshwar. Trimbakeshwar is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the Nashik district of Maharashtra. Trimbakeshwar is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples of Mahadev in India where the Kumbh is held once every 12 years.

  1. Magh Mela:

 Magh Mela is also held in Allahabad. These are conducted at the time of the Maha Kumbh Mela. This fair is held every year and devotees bathe in the holy waters of the Ganges and wash away their sins


  1. Kumbh Mela :

Story Behind Kumbh Mela : 


The period of Kumbh Mela is considered very auspicious in Hinduism. In Hindu mythology, it is said that when the Samudra Manthan happened and Amrit came out of it, and Lord Vishnu took it to heaven to protect it from the demons. Lord Vishnu waited for 12 days to enter the gates of heaven.

While Amrit Swarga was netted, some of them fell in Haridwar, Ujjain, Nashik and Allahabad. The 12 days that Lord Vishnu waited for are the 12 years of his association. So Dar is held after 12 years at 4 holy places called Kumbh Mela.


The next Kumbh Mela in Nashik is scheduled to be held in 2027. The main dates will be published by the copper plate pandits of Trimbakeshwar a few weeks before the death. The dates of Kumbh Mela are determined only by looking at the favorable position of the planets. Kumbh Mela is held once in 12 years when Jupiter enters Leo


Importance Of Kumbh Mela : 


Some special activities are performed by the devotees during the Kumbh Mela. It includes a Shahi Snan, worshiping of Lord Shiva, mass feeding, etc. 

No one needs an invitation to Kumbh Mela. Yet it is one of the largest celebrated festivals in the world. Kumbh means the pot full of Amrita which was protected by Lord Vishnu. A drop of the Amrita fell in Nashik and hence the Kumbh Mela is held here.

Kumbh Mela is also known by the name Simhastha Kumbh Mela. 


About Trimbakeshwar Temple : 


Trimbakeshwar is the awakened Jyotirlinga temple of Lord Shiva. It is believed that Mahadev visited himself in the form of Jyotirlinga at this place. Holy river Godavari originated from Kushawart Kund which is located 400 meters away from the main temple. All these sacred things make this temple special for some particular Hindu rituals. Hindus perform Poojas like Kaal sarp dos, Narayan Nagbali, Tripindi Shradh, Kumbh Vivah, Rudrabhishek, Maha Mrityunjay Mantra Jaap Pooja, etc.
