For a progeny of five years old, his mother was a constant embarrassment and use to categorise her as fuddy-duddy bumpkin. The simple reason being, she never had one. The boy was so self conscious ever since he had attained his senses, he always use to be aloof from his mother and not letting know anyone that, she is his mother. Mothers are well known for their indomitable admiration, sacrifice and love for their offspring, as such this great mother never expressed her agony or distress towards her son’s animosity and Indifferent attitude.

There was a parents meet in her son’s school, where the school authorities made. It is mandatory for the parents/parent to be present. Though she was reluctant, un-inclined to visit the school, knowing her son’s antipathy of her physical presence, she had no other alternative, but to visit. Somehow one of the classmates of the boy comes to identify his mother and makes mockery of her appearance in the class in front of all the students. This aggravated the boy’s frustration and anger further which provoked him opprobrious. Besides showering heap of offensive epithets, he had an audacity to tell her “I wish you were dead, instead causing constant embarrassment to me with your repulsive physical presence.” Even then, the boy’s mother never lost her affection and love towards him and maintaining her poise with a pinch of salt and shedding a silent tear.

As days passed, the boy had studied well, completed the schooling. Being intelligent and studious with good school academic background, he could able to secure admission. In a good college and completed his graduation with scholarship and self sustenance by securing part time work. He had totally disassociated from his mother, secured good job, married and well settled with wife and children.

Many years passed, his mother reaching senility, not able to bear loneliness anymore, she long to see her son. With great difficulty, she locates her son’s address and visits him. Standing in front of the closed door, she knocks, her grand child opens the door, looking at her, he screams and runs inside. When the son comes to know the reason for the commotion, he reacts in a most aggressive manner and encounter verbally with scathing attack stating.” I thought you were dead. You shameless creature, you were alive to create unpleasantness during my childhood and now you are still alive to continue trauma with my children. Get out and dare not visit my house again.” The poor old mother returns to her shack disconsolately, praying the Almighty to take her away from this terrestrial sphere.

After few days the boy receives a letter from his old school for the re-union of old students. He feels exuberant for the occasion and meets his old school mates and have good exchange of pleasantries. During the spare time, he squeezes little time in visiting his shack which is very near to the school. Placed himself inside the dilapidated shack, absorbed, preoccupied in old memories. Meanwhile an old neighbourhood lady hand him over a letter, saying that, your mother is no more and she gave me this letter anticipating your visit to the school’s reunion meet. The boy, when he heard the sad news of his mother’s demise, he had expressed neither sorrow nor remorse. He had opened the letter reluctantly and read the following contents.

My dearest most loving son, you are always dear to me from your adolescent to the present grownup age, and you remain ever my darling and loving son. You know my son, I had kept certain fact hidden from you for the genuine reason that, it should not torment your conscious constantly. When you were a cute little child, you had lost one eye in an accident, as a mother I could not bear the unbearable pain and agony looking at you with the loss of one eye. I instantly took a decision to donate one of my eyes. I wanted to see my darling son to enjoy the nature and lead happy and comfortable life in this world.

My ever Best wishes to you and my grandchildren

God bless you.

After reading the contents of the letter, his emotional outburst soared to the peak, his heart melted, the tears were streaming down uncontrollably, moaning and groaning with mono syllables --------------------- Mummy --- Mummy ---- Mummy

and there is no mummy to wipe his tears and console him.

Morale: Treat the parents with humility. They are the personification of age, nobility, divinity, maturity and selfless sacrifice.
