Akansha was always highly ambitious. When growing up, unlike most girls, she never played dress-up or spent time talking about boyfriends, but studied hard in order to accomplish her lifelong dream of being financially independent. She took job in a call center while finishing college and after almost seven years of immense struggle became HR manager of a renowned multinational corporation. She took care of her old parents, helped her relatives during critical situations, or in other words, tried to provide for her family under all circumstances.

Twenty-eight year old Akansha was brushing her long brown hair when her mother came. She was there to make a request, a request that perhaps all Indian parents put forward in front of their children at some point, a request of letting the former see the latter choose a companion, or get married. Akashi caressed her mother's wrinkled hands and said "if that would make you and Papa happy, I am ready"

For the next few days, Akansha was shown photos of eligible bachelors, and every night she went to sleep all perplexed because somehow standing in front of a more or less similar photo studio background, all guys looked the same.

Seeing a few parties rejecting Akansha because she has unfortunately crossed what in India was considered "marriageable age" and her own confused state, Sweety Aunty fixed a meeting with somebody.

Akansha read the biodata of Neil Chatterjee cautiously. He is currently working as an investment banker in USA, likes listening classical music, and occasionally indulges in adventurous sports as well. Six feet tall Neil looked gorgeous in photograph but will he be able to accept Akansha's fiercely sustaining nature?

"So do you think you can manage away from your homeland?" Neil asked, after taking a long sip of his cappuccino. Akansha smiled and said, "I guess". Neil didn't waste any more time to shoot the next utterly significant statement - "I am sorry but you cannot work anymore." He continued, "I need someone who can be there for me all the time, you have no idea exactly how lonely it gets in abroad. I do not want to come home seeing a wife engrossed in her laptop but who would serve me hot dinner and enquire about my day", yes he did emphasize on the word- MY...

Akansha gained her composure after a couple of minutes, "You knew I work in a respectable company and I would never give up my career to serve my husband food; if you wanted someone to stay at home, why didn't you specify so? I thought we could connect because being a modern-day man, I expected you would understand my dreams... I am not right for you"

The meeting kind of shook Akansha from within but she had no idea that the incidents next would break her even more.

"Neil was a perfect gentleman, your life would have been like a fairy tale" shouted Sweety Aunty, who was extremely disappointed. "I can make my own fairy-tale. I need somebody who would consider me an equal, who would not try killing my dreams just because he wants freshly prepared supper after coming home", Akansha retorted. Sweety Aunt taunted Mr. Chaudhary, "Yeah, educate your daughter a bit more, never stop her from doing anything; who is going to marry her if she cannot make simple compromises".

Akansha's father came near her and said, "Why couldn't you give us some peace? I heard enough for letting you do your own way, can't you adjust a bit?"

Akansha realized that even though she worked dedicatedly so that her parents could remain contended, it was all in vain. She never thought she would be asked to comply with the age-old and cringe-worthy concept- a girl can only make everybody happy if she could find a decent guy, settle down, and stand by him as he prospers. A girl's life is incomplete until she is accepted by a man.

Your choice is Akansha's choice... What would you do if you would have been in her place?
