Last Wish
Last Wish
1
New city, new school, new place, new people, new atmosphere, how many of us have not been bewildered in such a situation atleast for once? A few who become too busy in making lotsss of friends, driven by their genial and extrovert nature are different but most of us, though not introvets, still are way too timid to get along at the very beginning.
But for Ayaan, it was longer rather longest. No, he wasn't dull or boring, I should say he was a person whose physique and actions reflected the beauty of his heart. Kind, caring, loving, supportive and what not he was really one of a kind. Yet there was something and that one "something" didn't allow him to make friends. No matter how much close someone wanted to be he could never express himself, he would chat with you, stroll with you, be an absolute amazing advisor, share incidents he has heard off or witnessed but never ever could you be successful in knowing about him. Now, no one could get that, they tried, they asked, they failed and they ebbed away, no one could stay and that I personally think was obvious since there are not many people in this world who can really sink in the deepness, you see.

Then there was a day, a normal winter morning. He went to school and as usual Ayaan was roaming about on his own, barring a few who came and greeted but ultimately got lost in the mayhem of games and chatters and all the nutty stuffs that goes on. But Ayaan seemed a tad depressed that day, it felt as if he was yearning for something, longing for something, a bit reckless and restless contrary to his generally patient nature. Quite odd for him he could focus in his classes neither, he was confused and baffled but could not understand what made him so.
In the lunch break, he successfully found a quiet, solitary bench at the extreme corner of the mango tree - a dull shaded area generally ignored by the busy beings. He sat and contemplated but unconsciously and his eyes were fixed to the roof of the house that was of a house clearly visible from the school playground. His senses returned when the break was ten minutes to end. Someone came on that roof. A girl rather a lady of maybe the same age as Ayaan, yes she was gorgeous but there was something disarming in her beauty. She was unbelievably attractive and her glance was uncanny, you just cannot take your eyes off her. Usually Ayaan like a shy boy would roll his eyes to another direction within a wink but how strange! He couldn't , he just couldn't, what he could was nothing but just look straight into the eyes those were keenly looking at him. His heart beats got faster, what exactly was he sensing?
10mins rushed out and Ayaan had to come back to his classroom having been poked by his classmate.

The classes that seemed longest than ever finally got over. The students awaiting the last match of the day, as usual, dashed down to the playground but Ayaan was probably the last one to do that, he would head straight off to his flat as soon as the last bell rung. On that day, that peculiar, queer enticing glare brought very typical Ayaan to the ground too, he managed to get that same seat and solely waited. Pleasantly surprising Ayaan, she came again, stood at the same spot where she did in the break and stared at Ayaan, just in the same way. He was so thrilled, so amazed, so flabbergasted, who was she? what is her power? how could she affect that very personal boy just with a glance of hers? How?????

Now, after reaching home, he could not be patient. His mind was trespassed by trillions of thoughts and wonders. He was hardly any successful in getting rid of those questions and sleep at night but unquestionably reached school at the earliest the next day and the same thread of activities, glances and stares continued. But this evening he couldn't resist, sometime around 9p.m he dashed down the street to reach that building near his school. He didn't ring the bell, rather waited as if he knew she would sense him at the door and come and open it. Yes, his six sense worked well, she came, she opened the door but did neither question anything nor asked him in, rather she left the door open reluctantly and took Ayaan out on the road.

"Lets take a stroll down, the night's atmosphere is craving for it, can't you feel so Ayaan?" she said.
Having been shell shocked he promptly asked "You know my name?"
"I am omniscient", she chuckled.
"May I know your name? You really make me go unthinkably curious." Ayaan asked.
"You will get to know my name soon. But tell me first, you are jovial, kind, curious, thoughtful, and everything one would want; then what makes you step back when somebody approaches to be your friend?"
"I don't know how but I feel like sharing it with you."
And then they exchanged a long conversation. Ayaan described his feelings, his introvert nature, his problems of getting along, his love for solitude, his inability to make people stay with him --- EVERYTHING. He spoke like never before and it was indeed worthy. Her words, her advices, her thoughts, her support, she literally made Ayaan understand who he is. He could feel the enthusiasm, the excitement, the exhilaration, he understood and was understood by someone the very first time. The sense of complacency and the urge for having friends outshone his hesitations. He was HAPPY. He wanted to tightly hug her but she refused with a clever smile saying "Hug me when you come with your first friend."

Not realising that their stops under the shredding leaves and swing breaks in park, discussing things all way down had brought the time to midnight, they continued. At last, she looked at Ayaan alluringly, grinned and said "You wanted to know my name? Here it is and pointed at it."
...........
A chill ran down Ayaan's spine, he could not believe, he was dumbfound, aghast, he trembled.......
"Precious are the memories of"
"Kiara D'Souza"
"14 Dec 1983 - 15 Dec 2000"
"Loveliest and only daughter of late Mr and Mrs D'Souza"
"We lost her in an accident.........
........to help someone get the most longed wish true in life was her last wish..."
Is what she pointed at and left Ayaan stand in terror and shock in the deadliest silence of the cemetery....
But maybe she was successful, maybe someday Ayaan would come back to her with his first friend and hug her cemetery to let her know that her "last wish" has been fulfilled and she would lie down in peace and solace.
