I'm Just Fine

The girl had curly brown hair. Deep ocean eyes. A broken smile that couldn't be missed. She hid under her aunt's blanket because she didn't want to go to her abusive dad's house. She was afraid that she would never come back to see her aunt. Her aunt, Kathy, leaned in close, "It'll be okay, you'll come back. You'll always come back. I'll be waiting for you." The little girl slowly peaked her head out of the blanket and was lead by her dear aunt to the door. The girl was greeted with a big smile and a hug. "Come back to visit me." To this day, the girl wishes she could've stayed just five minutes longer. Please, just five more minutes. The little girl came back every weekend for years like she said I would. The little girl grew up fine. She moved out of her dad's house. She had issues, still. Her dad's cruel treatment still bothers her to this day. She went through the elementary, middle, and high school just fine. All thanks to her aunt Kathy. All thanks to her promise that the little girl wouldn't disappear as she feared.
