How I First Rode My Bicycle
How I First Rode My Bicycle
This happened when I was in class 7. I was 12. One fine afternoon I was trying to learn how to ride a bicycle. Murli, my next door neighbour was also accompanying me on this adventure of mine. Every time i would climb to sit on the bicycle seat, I immediately lost my balance and fell down. While I was struggling to learn to ride my bicycle, Murli came up with an idea. He suggested to tie my feet to the pedal in order not to lose the grip from handles.
I thought it to be a good advice and I decided to do the same. We made the bicycle stand against a wall and I sat on its seat. My friend tied my feet to with a pair of strings. I was ready to go on a balanced ride. I balanced my bicycle away from the wall and started pedaling down the lane. It went on quite well for a moment but in no time I lost my balance but poor I was, couldn't take my feet away from the pedals until I hit a wall in the front. Murli came running from behind and untied my feet. Even though it was a swift fall, I was hurt badly. So many years have gone by nonetheless I cherish those moments that I experienced in my innocence on the threshold of teens.
