It was the time when summer vacation was over. Schools were re-opening, stakeholders like children, teachers, associate organisation to schools(NGOs) came to action again. The first event which was about to be celebrated in all schools was “ prevesh-utsav”. Government order was released with outline and details of activities for that special day. Schools were opened on 11 June and Child festival ( prevesh -utsav) was to celebrate on 14 June. The first three days were devoted for the preparation of child festival. District program officer announced a grand prize for the school which would get maximum enrollment during this festival.

Vasaipur primary school had won this prize continuously last two times. Mr. Kailash, principal of Vasai primary school was ready to win this time again and complete hat-trick. All teacher’s, aanganwadi worker’s, NGO worker put their whole effort in this event. They visited door to door, contacted on telephone also. Students recited patriotic songs, practiced Yoga ,crammed their speeches.

It was 14th June, DPO himself present in Vasaipur primary school as a chief guest. 23 students were new enrolled this year. Mr. Kailash surveyed and got some news from other schools about number of enrolment. 17 was the highest score so Mr. Kailash was cheered slowly for third win consecutively. All program was going on as per schedule. DPO sir about to announce the winner name of this year, suddenly he received a call from Kalalpur primary school, he got information that in Kalalpur this year enrolment was 25. When Kailash sir got this news, the charm of his face faded. He talked with his staff and give responsibility to Ridha madam that this program continued until we came back with three more students. Kailash ji handed this responsibility to a senior teacher and requested that at any cost please manage this , our school had to win come what may.

Team tried his all effort but all students of age group 5 to 8 are already enrolled, on the other hand Ridha madam anchored the stage so well that DPO sir forgot the time. Kailash sir watched only on the gate and hope for team returned soon along with three students. Team found one child from this age group who came in this village in his relationship, they requested to his parents and took their child for one hours and promised returned their child with gift. They failed to find another two children, Kailash sir called them again and again, 35 minutes had passed. DPO sir started his speech, fortunately he was in his flow and appreciated Vasaipur school, as it seemed that his speech about to finish, he started another topic.

Team found two 4 years children who sat in tempo with his mother, team stopped tempo and offered gift to that lady. Lady refused this offer but team begged in front of her so she came with team in Vasaipur school. Now Kailash ji informed DPO sir about new data of enrolled students. DPO sir announced Winner of this year that was Kalalpur primary school. As he was the witness of all story.

Next day Kailash sir came to his school, Ridha madam showed newspaper of that day – Vasaipur was highest enrollment three consecutive years. DPO sir could not challenge data while they knew the reality but as per reported in record he signed on the winner announcement. Data played it’s game in favor of Vasaipur over reality.
