In today’s modern world, women have become independent and believe in living life on their own terms. They don’t need a man to earn for them and can survive successfully with or without one. Whether it is a working woman we are talking about or a housewife. We can manage to live without a boyfriend or a husband. But one person who plays a very important part in our life, whom we cannot live without; has to be none other than our housemaid. Some of you may disagree with me but it’s true. Especially in cities where life is fast and we are used to getting our household work done by others.

It’s not that we can’t manage without a maid. We can. But only for a limited time. A few days later, we are bound to get irritated and frustrated. I never thought I would say this, but I really missed my maid when she was on a long leave. It’s a well known fact that you realise someone’s actual value only in their absence. When they stop doing the things they usually do for you when you tend to take them for granted. Only when I did my entire household chores did I realise how difficult my maid’s life is and how easy my own life is. She works in God knows how many homes, to earn her daily bread and butter. After that, she cooks and cleans for her own children.

While we crib about working whole day while sitting in office, our maids work physically in our homes. It is difficult to say which job is more hectic. But we need to appreciate the fact that they make our lives much easier. At least, we don’t have to worry about our household work when they are around. So I would like to conclude, by saying that, no matter what profession we are in, we all deserve respect. Whether it is a cleaner or a watchman or a maid or a chartered accountant, we all are a part of the society and each and every one of us plays a crucial role. And last but not the least, I would like to give a piece of advice. Never feel ashamed to do your own household work when the need arises. Sometimes, it’s fun as well.
