“Hey kids, I got the blue cheesecake you wanted from a nearby shop. Let’s have dinner and then I’ll tell you a bedtime story,” the fat, brown rat, Evan called out energetically.

“Okay daddy!” his twin kids replied excitedly.

“Alright, calm down now. I have set the dining table, wash your hands and clean your face, or else you’ll be sick,” their mother, an elegant white mouse, ordered. All four ate and laughed while discussing the current news. Soon, it was time to sleep. Evan tightly tucked his kids in the bed and kissed them goodnight. Then, he articulately recited a folktale.

The kids intently listened to the story of a young mouse called Stuart. One day, he did not obey his parents and went outside his house unsupervised. He did not return home for a week. His parents were devastated. Soon, news came that he was captured by the humans who unmercifully performed experiments on mice. His parents tried their best to rescue their child but were instead caught. “Thus,” Evan concluded, “never try to disobey your parents.” The kids were fast asleep by the time his story tale finished.

Next morning Evan hurriedly left for work as usual. He had just crossed the street for the train station when a couple of humans abruptly picked him up and captured him in a small packet. He tried very hard to escape, but his effort went in vain.

After three days, he woke up in a brightly lit room. The bleached wallpaper was peeling off on the red sofa, and the paintings on the wall peeked at him curiously. Evan found himself miserably witnessing the slaughtering of his fellow mice. He was petrified. Everyone around him started squeaking and crying helplessly. However, he managed to keep his cool and stealthily explored the surroundings while devising an escape plan.

After two days, Evan successfully managed to escape from the humans. He quickly informed the local mice police and helped his kins escape. For his bravery and extreme courage, Evan was awarded the Nobel Mouserria laureate award and soon became a high-ranking minister in the Emperor’s court. He later became a legend who was praised by all.
