It was the month of September 2017 when Sachin's mother Sushila was diagnosed with a brain tumour. The stealthy tumour had acquired a fatal size negotiating its way towards optic nerves around her right eye. On the day of the operation while carrying his mother to the operation theatre Sachin's mind was blank. As if the thinking faculty of his brain had choked. At the entrance of the operation room, Sachin entrusted the stretcher to the realm of God - seeking His optimistic judgement.

The surgery went on for six hours. Sitting outside the operation theatre, his mind oscillated between the element of hope and doubt. It was at 3.00 PM that Sachin saw the stretcher bearing his mother - slowly passaging through its 'path'. The path that seemed solid and intact but, perhaps, tormented with the continuous smashing weight of life and death. Sachin ran and touched his mother’s wrist to examine and extract the sign of life from her pulse. And his heart surged with joy.

Enduring seven days in ICU ultimately his mother was transported to a private ward of the hospital. When the hustle-bustle of the room settled to normalcy, after the departure of friends and relatives, Sachin silently lay beside his mother. Her incised head covered with numerous stitches and re-covered with a bandage was positioned in a way that he rested his head near her legs - shrinking his entire body to the minimal range, being cautious of her comfortability. Her mother's left limb had become static and her vision totally impaired.

During late evening her right hand tweaked and touched Sachin's leg. She motioned her weakened palm on his feet advancing it towards the hairs on his leg, attempting to explore something recognizable. It felt like an effort to inhale the smell of the most beautiful bond nurtured by a mother. And then she started rubbing, caressing and massaging his leg with her frail strength. At a time Sachin thought of shifting her hand to rest upon her belly. But he let her continue eliciting semi-conscious solace, joy and spirit of motherhood. At the moment, Sachin's heart was filled with an array of undefined feelings. Lastly, She succumbed to the disease and departed for a heavenly abode in 2021.
