Dreams To Die For
Dreams To Die For
It was a fine morning in southern part of India, the birds were chirping around lustrous green trees, there was a house next to a river bank where water always raced between the riverbed. The streets were filled with people discussing issues in the newspaper, they were not restless because they were discussing general weather forecasts. There was little boy who was sleeping sound in his house which was next to the river. His father woke him up with a very kind gesture. The language he spoke was Tamil. The little boy got up with the hymn of the birds. It was a weekend and with utter joy he got himself ready to meet his friends.
He packed all his requisites in his backpack and set his walk towards the farmland where the friends would always hangout. The farmland had nothing but green scenery to view. With a pond in the middle of the land had fishes as its citizens. The boys used to play hard in the field and refresh themselves in the pond nearby. The father of the little boy used to admire the happiness of the boys from a long distance and remember the days of his past.
The little boy now got out of his bed, realizing that all the time he was dreaming. He went out to his mother who was standing near the photo of her husband hanging in the wall. The little boy's father died in an uprising event against Sterlite issue where he was shot dead. The village did not have a running river of water , all it had was blood in the streets. There were no people having chitchats in the streets, it was all deserted. Protests everywhere throughout the state just to claim the basic living of the people.
The little boy had a smile in the corner of his lips amidst of all losses, as every dream this one also has just passed away. He grew up to a teenager to realize dreams are just dreams, and his father and 10 other men gave up their lives just to make the toddlers dream come true. The teenager now set his foot into the protest for a better tomorrow as he realized this is the dream he is going to die for to make it a dream come true.
Sacrifice is the only key to make dreams come true.
