Desire Never Dies
Desire Never Dies
Once lived a great mighty King Suryabhan. He ruled his kingdom with justice and kindness. He had a thousand wives. One day he came to know that his end is near. He started worrying. He refused the food and gave up sleeping. Gradually, the days began to recede and finally that day also came. When the Yamadoot, messenger of Death, came to take his life he begged for his life. The Yamadoot told him that death never goes empty-handed. He suggested that if someone sacrifices his life for him, his lifeline can be increased.
The king begged in front of his family but no one was ready to lose his life. Finally, the King's youngest son, who was only five years old and don't know much about life and death, was ready to sacrifice his life for his father. The Yamadoot took his life. Again after a hundred years the Yamadoot returned to take his life. He told him that all his desires had not completely fulfilled, he wants some more time to live. Again he sacrificed the life of his family member. This continued till ages. Finally when the Yamadoot arrived thousandth time and asked whom he is going to sacrifice. He replied that he understood that desire cannot be fulfilled ever and was ready to go with him. He was selfish and so foolish that he sacrificed the lives of others for his desires. Now he had understood that anyone who has born in the world will surely die.
