Margaret sat in the group therapy. She smiled at Linda as Linda spoke. “I had to come to this fucking group therapy cause my parents think it’s a crime to have safe sex with guys” Linda said, giving a smirk to Margaret. Linda and Margaret were best friends since kindergarten. Linda had been accompanying Margaret to the therapies since Margaret started to go as her mother wanted her to attend them for her flirtatious behaviour. “well, I hope you can overcome your desire to have sexual relations with guys Linda.” Said Mark, the therapist. “yeah Linda” said the people of the group therapy. “okay Margaret you next.”

“Hey I am Margaret. I am 23 years old and the only crime that I have committed is to be black. My parents died when I was 20, somehow I managed things for 1 and a half years on my own and was actually doing really great in my job and everything but then again like I was bullied in middle school for being black in colour, well the same has been happening since the past few days. And I did not want to go into depression so I decided to come here” Linda nudges Margaret’s arm “yeah yeah and I am grateful to Linda for coming here with me and of course to her mom too” Margaret says with a laugh. “wow Margaret. We are here for you” mark, the therapist says as he claps. A few more people hoot and clap. The thing Margaret was really good at was talking about her in a room full of people.

“God that was so exhausting.” Linda said when they got out of the therapy group room.

“You were sleeping half of the time. How are we going back now?”

“I don’t know we thought of asking someone right?”

“Linda we can’t just ask anyone for a ride”

“I can give you guys a ride” said a voice from behind them. Margaret spun around to see mark, the therapist standing.

“Oh no. I think--” Margaret began to say but Linda cut her off in between.

“Really? You will? Thanks a lot Mark.”

“No problem. Come on.”
