Boy Who Wanted To Play
Boy Who Wanted To Play
As he was about to close his eyes, one last time; he saw the ground hovering around him and inviting to play on it.
The man gathered all his strength to enter the ground, seeing the old Banyan tree and the lively grass that had not touched his foot for the last 6 decades.
6 decades ago....
A small boy, around the age of 10, wants to go to play in the park. Being the youngest and the naughtiest, he was often grounded at his home.
The boy liked to meet new friends, but being constantly grounded, made him fear people, his own age, younger than him, older than him and everyone besides him.
Soon the boy became a teenager, with the lively grass regrowing every year, but with his missing footsteps on it. The teenager now had to be born on paper for the society of norms and standards. It was the time for the boards.
Soon the boards turned into board meetings, and more meetings and the grass and the Banyan tree still growing regrowing in a cycle missing his first steps, the first laughter, the first giggle, the first fall, the first bruise of the little boy.
Three decades later, he finally weeped at the Banyan tree with his little daughter, giving her all the firsts on the ground which he never could have had the lasts for.
He, promised to ground to make it a happy place with his daughter to run around, fall and feel the excitement which he felt everyday before he knew it has last on the ground
The decades passed, even in the worst times, the tree stood by her, the grass of the ground wept her tears and the air cleansed her and reminded her of who she was.
Time passed and so did the girl, getting stronger she moved away from the ground and the ground was yet again a sad place.
Current day:
The young girl now a woman sees a father running around the ground, hugging the tree and uprooting the grass, one last time in joy, as he knew he will be consumed by the soil beneath the ground. Enjoying the soul one last time, and as the soul of the ground descended so did he.
