New state, new city, new culture and most importantly, new friends. Veera had just stepped in the city with utmost zest and with a spark in her eyes. After all, her college life was about to commence. She ought to be exuberant about the new place. She blissfully entered her hostel room and deliberated about the new life she just got into. Soon she deciphered, the cultural and language barriers she had to encounter while meeting new people which could make it intractable for her to settle in the city. Veera was a bubbly and sprightly girl with the attributes of an extrovert. She has always admired meeting new people and making new friends. But the place she has come from was too small for the comparison with the current environment.

Within a few days, she made plenty of friends and her group proliferated at a fast pace. Her happiness was at the optimum level and shared the same with her family during their phone-call conversations. They found it amenable to assimilate the fact regarding her growing number of friends. Perhaps, they had experience about the abstract idea of true friendship while Veera was still lost in her dream abode. The time elapsed and she enrolled herself with different activities and event. Things started to change by then and all the constants started to diminish. Her dream abode finally broke and all those whom she addressed as friends were no longer to be seen around her. She started missing her home. Staying in the hostel can sometimes give you both sublime as well as horrendous experiences. Missing your family the most while staying in the hostel can be as appalling as a bad omen day. Veera somehow managed herself because her family was her strength and not her weakness.

Soon, she discovered new friends and this time it was a perfect match from God’s door. She started living her life with Adyant, Nadin and Dani. Her hostel life became thrilling with the euphoric existence of Dani. Late night gossips and Maggie sessions were cherished forever. The conflict always arose in one situation.

*At 2:30 am with empty stomach*

Dani – Let’s cook Maggie with some chilli flakes and oregano.

Veera – Do it fast. Make sure to add extra Maggie Masala sachet.

Dani – I’ll make two packets of it. That’d be enough.

Veera – Says who? The one who finishes two packets all by herself. Make it four.

Dani – Are you mad? Why waste it when it’d work in two packets?

Veera – I’ve known you for three years. Do not dare my knowledge and your growling stomach.

Such were the hostel scenes where Veera and Dani cooked their special moments to relish it together. Maggie is the only answer for all the seasons as well as the reasons. They had learnt this fact in their hostel life. Running and shouting in the corridors has always been fun while everyone was into the deep slumber.

Four years had already passed and time has come for the mighty departure. This was the end of their college as well as hostel life. They were happy because the time has come to make their dreams come true. On the other hand, they felt sad to leave their jolly family. The family does not necessarily consist of parents and siblings. A family is where you can open your hearts out without fear of being judged, support each other, cherish the moments and stay together without anyone drifting away. A journey of four years was about to end in a month. Leaving was obligatory but staying was their dream. Veera, Adyant, Dani and Nadin not only experienced their lives in these years but also made several memories which could be cherished endlessly. Bidding bye and moving away was painful for them. Although they’d made a pact to meet each other once in the six months, they somewhere knew the impossibility of the plan due to the distances. But friendship understands no distance and is always open to spread love and happiness. Friends have the significant potential to bring a smile on your face with some refreshing memories.
