A Surprise For Rishu

Rishu was staying away from home with his wife, Kavya. He had to move there due to his job. But for a few days, he was feeling a bit low. Diwali was near and he wanted to spend the festival with his parents back there in his hometown. But because of work, he couldn’t go there. Also, it was his first Diwali away from home which made him even sadder.

Kavya had been observing him for a while. She was not happy seeing Rishu sad. She tried talking to him and making him feel better. But Rishu didn’t want to talk on the matter. He thought it would be useless as nothing can be done. He had made up his mind that he has to spend this Diwali without his parents.

Kavya wanted to do something about Rishu's sadness. She gave it a thought and called her in-laws when he wasn’t around. She informed them about Rishu’s situation. His parents understood the situation and Kavya told them what she has planned. They happily agreed.

Rishu was unaware of the plan and was still a little sad. On the day of Diwali, he woke up as usual. The day was a working holiday and he had to arrange the things required for the worship and rituals. He went out for that. When he returned home, he was surprised. When he entered, his parents and his wife were there to surprise him. Rishu got a little emotional, dropped the bags in his hands, and hugged his parents like a small child. His mother also shed a teardrop seeing the love her son had for his parents. His father was also standing there and witnessing the bond between a mother and her son.

“It was Kavya’s plan,” his mother revealed to him.

He turned to Kavya, held her hands, and thanked her. He was delighted that he will have his parents with him when he wanted them. Kavya sighed with happiness seeing her husband happy. For the rest of the day, Rishu was excited about the festival. In the evening they worshipped Lord Ganesh and Goddess Laxmi. Rishu brought his parents’ favourite sweets. He was grateful to Kavya for planning such an unpredictable surprise. He celebrated the occasion with great enthusiasm.
